Volunteer Telephone Crisis Supporter

Lifeline Hunter Central Coast is part of the national telephone crisis support service that operates twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week along with forty-two other centres situated across Australia. The 13 11 14 number supports over 800,000 Australians in crisis each year.

Are you interested in being part of an organisation that really makes a difference?

Lifeline Hunter Central Coast are calling for people from all walks of life to help maintain its 24 Hour Telephone Crisis Support Line by training to become a volunteer Telephone Crisis Supporter. Please find listed below the dates and times for upcoming courses.

COST of TCS Training:

This is paid (in full) after attendance of the orientation day and once accepted into the course, but prior to the commencement of the first day of training.


The financial value of the course is approximately $4,200.

As this course is highly subsidised, we ask for a two year commitment to Lifeline Newcastle & Hunter.


Lifeline Hunter Central Coast provides this training on behalf of Lifeline Australia RTO 88036, complies with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations(RTO) 2015.

The CSWT course comprises nationally recognised Units of Competency, which is designed to train Lifeline Telephone Crisis Supporters.

To be a Lifeline Accredited Crisis Supporter the minimum requirement is a Statement of Attainment in the three CSWT Units of Competency listed. To obtain these units of competency this course consists of 3 phases over a 12 month period as outlined in the CSWT Pathway>>>


  • CHCCCS003 Increase the safety of individuals at risk of suicide
  • CHCCCS019 Recognise and respond to crisis situations
  • CHCCCS028 Provide client-centred support to people in crisis

Step 1: Attendance at the orientation - Accidental Counsellor Training session
Step 2: Initial application .
Step 3: Successful applicants will be notified of their acceptance into the course
